Samantha and Cinny in bed

Last night, Samantha took her bird Cinny to bed with her and when she's done this in the past, she usually asks me to take the bird before she falls asleep.

This time however she fell asleep cuddling with Cinny.

I almost forgot that the bird was there but something in me reminded me so I checked on Samantha.  Sure enough, she was fast asleep but at first I could not see Cinny.  So I flashed my iPhone flashlight over Sammie and saw a wide open bird's eye underneath Sammie's hand. Sammie was lying on her back and her hands were folded on her chest over her heart and under her hands was a very still, very comfortable Cinny, lying completely facedown on Sammie's chest.  Her eyes were wide open however and when she saw me, she wiggled out from Sammie's embrace, stood up, shaked herself up, and walked toward me groggily, as if to say "I'm done. Take me to my bed".

I put her in her cage and covered it and for the first time Cinny did not complain or flap her wings after I covered it. When I walked away she did not complain and beg me to take her with me (a lot of bed time specific squawks and I usually talk to her until she calms down).  Cinny stayed quiet in her cage and went to sleep.

What are you doing, Matthew?

Today, this evening, we all got together and watched Looney Tunes, the more modern version with Mel Blanc's son doing the main characters and various other voice actors. While we were watching, Matt got up and went to the kitchen. I could hear him pouring water and then there was a pause while he was drinking, but after that he poured the rest of the water in the sink. He emptied the whole Brita pitcher in this manner.

He knows that upsets me but this time I didn't say anything. Then, for the first time, he said "What are you doing?"  At first I wasn't sure why he said that but he repeated himself a few more times. Finally, he just poured a cup of water on the floor and for that I got upset and without thinking I said out loud "Matthew!  What ARE you doing?!"  I got up and went straight to the kitchen and saw the water in the floor. Matthew was laughing and he snuck out of the kitchen while I cleaned it up.

After cleaning that up I had Matt go with me to do the laundry and while there he was laughing the whole time and repeated "What are you doing?".  I got to the point where I humored him and repeated that phrase but with my motherly tone (otherwise he wouldn't laugh). He started by walking up close to me, getting directly in front of me and looking me in the eyes and said "What are you doing Matthew?"  So, I repeated that in my motherly tone and he cracked up laughing.  We did this nonstop for a good 30 minutes while I folded laundry. Finally, his laughing slowed down and no matter how much he wanted to continue laughing, the whole thing was starting to get old and he wasn't finding it as funny anymore. The phrase's humor started waning off while we finished the laundry.

It was a fun night seeing Matt initiate the communication and share his most amazing laugh and sense of humor with me.

Jana Alayra Concert

Jana Alayra

Matt attended EV Free Fullerton's VBS this week (July 2015) and they had a concert tonight with Jana Alayra!  Matt is a big fan because we have been listening to her music since he was 5 years old!  I am a total fan too!

So here's pictures of this week!

Aaron's growing up

A week ago or so I was helping Aaron pick out his pajamas for bed and I asked him "Squish, what do you want to wear?" And he said "Mommy, don't call me Squishy anymore..."  And I said "Really?" And then he said "and don't call me Little anymore either....".  Holding down the lump in my throat, I took a deep breath and decided to be a good sport about it, rather than cry my eyes out.  I shrugged it off, like it was no big deal, and I said "Okay Baby, I won't call you Squish or Liddle anymore". There was a pause and then he said "don't call me Baby...."  Oops!  Lol!  My baby is growing up! This day inevitably arrived. Wahhhh!

Target

We were at Target today in the boy's Lego aisle when all of the sudden, out of the corner of my eye, I saw Matt pushing the cart down the aisle. I was talking to Aaron and did not put too much thought into it because Matt would probably stop the cart before crashing it.

It got silent and I looked around and did not see Matt anymore but heard Samantha laughing.  I thought Samsntha had taken the cart because if Matt had, that means he knew how to turn the corner, which I was certain he could not do.

Sure enough, I ran to the end of the Aisle and saw that Matt was pushing the cart very well and had done it alone. Samantha was just laughing at him, a very cute laugh, one she has only for Matt when he does something clever.

Matt got to the end of the aisle, slowed slightly, but not much, and sure enough, turned the corner very well, like he'd been doing this his whole life.

Yes!  Well done. However, he took off with our cart and my purse was in it. I'd told him to stop but he didn't listen.

I told Aaron and Sam to wait for me (Aaron didn't flinch, he loves Legos and could've stayed there for hours if I'd've let him). I ran to the end of the aisle and turned. I called Matt and then he sang and in that manner I located him again.  He'd pushed the cart half way down the aisle he'd had gone down and he stopped when he saw that I was near.

I was just proud of him!  I gave him a big hug and told him he'd done a great job pushing the cart. Of course, after that, he didn't want to push the cart anymore!   Lol.

Ants

We found lines of ants leading to and stopping at the stove when we got home today.  I started cleaning but Aaron freaked out...so I had him help me clean up the ants.  He helped, but rather than wipe down the ants with a wet paper towel, like I showed him, he got the bottle of Melalueca all purpose cleaner and sprayed the ants one by one. Then doused them where the ant production line was strong. Then he wandered to the living room, and he sprayed up and a mist fell all over the place.

Well, Samantha was cuddling with her bird when Aaron did this and she got upset with Aaron since the mist landed in the bird.

She bathed the bird (totally doused it with water, it looked like a wet cat when she was done) and told Aaron the bird should be fine.

Aron asked if the bird was angry with him and she said no, not anymore.
